Contact adhesive bonds on touch. You coat both surfaces, let them go tacky, then bring them together and they grab straight away across the whole area, with no clamps or props. That makes it the standard choice for laminates, panels and sheet materials.

What's in this collection

• Soudal 140 LQ Contact Adhesive 750ml: a liquid neoprene contact adhesive with high initial grab, for laminate, rubber, cork and worktops.

Using contact adhesive right

• Coat both faces and wait until it is touch-dry before joining. Join too early and it never reaches full strength.
• Line the parts up first. Once they touch they are stuck, so there is no sliding them into place.
• On big panels, a slip-sheet of paper between the surfaces, pulled out as you press, lets you position before contact.
• Work in a ventilated space. It is solvent-based.
