Broadfix flat packers, mixed pack – 28mm bag, waterproof. A handy bag of colour-coded plastic packers in mixed thicknesses for levelling and spacing.
Flat packers pack out and level frames, units and fixings before they're screwed off – and a mixed bag means you've every common thickness on hand to build up to an exact gap. Colour-coded 1–6mm so you grab the right one fast. Made from recycled plastic: 100% waterproof, won't shrink, swell or rot like timber offcuts, and takes higher compression than a timber shim.

Stack packers to build up to the gap, and pack close to the fixing so the load bears on the packer. Waterproof, so they suit external and damp spots where timber fails. For bulk, the box of 1,000 works out cheaper per packer.
