ForgeMaster masonry drill bit, 4.0 x 150mm. A tungsten carbide-tipped bit for drilling stone, brick, concrete and most masonry.
Same 4.0mm diameter for red (6–10 gauge) wall plugs and light fixings, but the 150mm length reaches through thick render, insulation or timber into the masonry behind. The specially ground tungsten carbide tip is heat-treated to last, and the hexagon shank grips in the chuck without slipping, so it drills faster and doesn't spin. Sand-blast finish for durability.

Match the hole to the plug so a red plug grips snugly. Use hammer mode on brick and concrete, and back the bit out now and then to clear dust from a deep hole. For a shorter, stiffer bit use the 4.0 x 85mm; for bigger plugs, step up to 5.0mm.
