FT Extra self-adhesive scrim tape, white – 50mm x 90m. Self-adhesive mesh tape that stops a plasterboard joint cracking through the skim.
Scrim tape reinforces the joint between plasterboard sheets so the filler and skim don't crack along the seam later. This self-adhesive fibreglass mesh is the modern replacement for old jute and cotton scrim – far quicker to install, it sticks straight onto the boards with no separate bedding coat. Each roll is individually shrink-wrapped so the adhesive stays fresh.

Press it over the joint onto clean, dry board, then fill and skim over it. Keep it centred on the seam and don't overlap layers, or you'll build a ridge. Also handy over hairline cracks before skimming. Pairs with our jointing and finishing kit.
