The bucket that earns its keep a dozen ways – mixing small batches, carrying tools and spoil, catching a leak, hauling water. Heavy-duty plastic stands up to being dropped and kicked where a thin bucket splits, and the pouring lip lets you tip it out clean without it running down the side.

Mixing plaster, mortar or compound? Pair it with a paddle mixer and don't fill past two-thirds so it stays controllable. Rinse it out before the mix sets – cured muck is a job to chip out later. For mixing and mucking out, a flexi trug is the softer-sided alternative.
