A clout nail's wide, flat head is the point of it – it holds soft or sheet material down without the head tearing straight through. This 40 x 2.65mm size is the popular general-purpose clout for securing roofing felt, wire fencing and roofing slates. Galvanised against rust and made to BS 1202. Around 570 nails per kg, in a 25kg bulk box.

Drive them home flush – the wide head does the holding, so it doesn't need punching in. Galvanised means they're fine for exterior felt and fencing work. For a shorter fixing, the 30 x 2.65mm clout does the same job in thinner material.
