• Tie cavity walls with stainless ties, embedded into both leaves with a fall to the outer skin so water runs out, not in.
• Lay DPM under floors and lap it onto the DPC, so wall and floor damp protection join up.
• Keep the wear items stocked — brooms, shovels and buckets are the first things to walk off a site.
